ALLIANCE, OHIO – (March 15, 2022) –  Mike Schott has resigned as the Alliance City Schools (ACS) athletic director effective June 30.

Schott held the position from 2009 to present. He began working for ACS in 2004 when he was hired as a special education teacher at Alliance High School (AHS). In 2005, he became the AHS physical education and health teacher which he remained in until he was selected as the athletic director. During his tenure with ACS he coached a number of athletic teams including football, basketball and baseball.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone who has made my time as athletic director memorable,” Schott said. “I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish all that I have during my time at Alliance without the support of the Board of Education, administration, support staff and my fellow members of the athletic department, Sue Donohoe and Kelci Yeager. I want to thank the coaches, athletes, parents and fans for always working hard and being the best supporters we could ever ask for.”

Schott will depart from Alliance City Schools in June where he will begin a position in another district.

“Mike has been a vital member of our district leadership team for more than a decade. His integrity shows through in all he does and he has earned the respect and trust of students, parents and staff members. It’s not just in Alliance that he has made an impact, but county-wide. We wish him well as he begins his departure from the Aviator team,” said Superintendent Rob Gress. “We will be very diligent in our search for a new athletic director to ensure that we find the right person to enhance both the boys and girls athletic programs in the coming years and who shares our philosophy that athletics are an integral part of educating the whole child.”

The district will begin the process immediately to hire a new athletic director.
