ALLIANCE, OHIO – (March 17, 2021) – The Alliance City School Board of Education approved Dr. Amy Cramer to be hired as the Director of Special Education at last night’s regular board meeting.
\r\nDr. Cramer will step into the position in July following the retirement of Jane Stoner, the current Coordinator of Special Education. Stoner has worked for the district for the past 12 years.
\r\n“Jane’s dedication to our students and her contributions to our staff and students are immeasurable,” said Superintendent Rob Gress. “Few people I know have a heart bigger than hers. Showing compassion for students and families, while promoting learning at high levels has been second nature to her. She has led by example, always assuming positive intent from others in each and every interaction.”
\r\nDr. Cramer has worked for ACS as a school psychologist since 2015. Her experience in the buildings and her extensive background makes her highly qualified to step into this position. Dr. Cramer earned her bachelor's degree and masters degree in psychology and her education specialists degree from Valparaiso University in Indiana and her Ph.D, in educational psychology from Andrews University in Michigan.
\r\nFrom 2002-2007, she worked as a school psychologist for the Elkhart County Special Education Cooperative in Elkhart Indiana. From 2007-2015, she served as an assistant professor in the graduate and undergraduate programs at Valparaiso University where she also served as director of the school psychology program from 2013-2014.
\r\n“The district had 29 applicants for this position, but after careful evaluation, our team knew we had the right person already on our staff,” Gress said. “Dr. Cramer will be a great addition to the district and our community. She understands the value of loving and respecting our staff and students while also pushing them to reach their maximum potential. Dr. Cramer already has the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Her hard-working nature, combined with her compassion and intelligence, will serve her and ACS well as she transitions to an administrative position.”
