Alliance City Schools recognizes 2018 Pathfinder Award Recipients
Alliance City Schools has named eight individuals who have been trailblazers to success to the Alliance area for the second annual Pathfinders Awards.
The awards are given during Black History Month to individuals who have created paths of success for our students- thus the name Pathfinder- in one of the following categories: citizenship/government, education, arts and sciences, humanitarianism and business.
Superintendent Jeffery Talbert brought the idea for the awards to Alliance last year. A board of community members nominates and chooses the award recipients each year.
All recipients of the Pathfinder Awards are either alumni who have been an inspiration to minorities in one of the awarded areas locally or out of the area, or non-Alliance City School alumni who have been an inspiration at the local level.
There will be three events where the Pathfinder’s awards are given:
-February 8 at 8:30 a.m. at the Middle School Pastors Bobby and Joyce Williams in the area of Humanitarians and Mr. Kenya Harrington in the area of Education, will receive awards and speak.
-February 16 at 9 a.m.at the High School Dr. Michael Grimes in the area of Science, Attorney Merrick Malone in the area of Education and Pastor Aaron Hill in the area of Education will receive awards and speak.
-The University of Mount Union has partnered with ACS to host the Black History Month event on February 8 at 6 p.m. at the University’s Dewald Chapel. Two of the Pathfinders will receive their awards at that event, Councilwoman Cindy King in the area of Citizenship/Government and Jack Peters in the area of Business/Humanitarian.
