Dear Aviator Families,
\r\nAfter much consideration, we will transition to remote learning for all in-person students in preschool through 12th grade beginning Monday, Nov. 23 through Friday, December 4. We anticipate students returning to in-person learning on Monday, Dec. 7. Students will remain in person for the remainder of this week.
\r\nLet me be clear, we are not making this decision based on positive cases within our schools. Our number of positive cases for staff and students are still very low (refer to the dashboard link below), however; we are currently experiencing a shortage of substitutes for all positions such as transportation, food service, custodial/maintenance and teachers. We believe transitioning to remote learning will allow us the time needed to return our staff and students to in-person learning at full capacity.
\r\nAll students currently taking part in digital learning (through Acellus) will continue as usual during this time.
\r\nRemote Learning Plans
\r\nYour child’s principal sent the remote learning plan out this past weekend. The plans can be found here: ACS Remote Learning Plans
\r\nYour child’s teachers will continue to be available during this period of remote learning to offer assistance. They will utilize Google Classroom similar to the remote learning period in the spring.
\r\nMeals
\r\nFood services will continue to be available for students taking part in remote learning and the Alliance Digital Academy during this time. For additional meal information, click here: Remote Learning Food Distribution Plan
\r\nAthletics
\r\nSince we are making this transition due to staffing needs and not due to positive cases, athletics will continue during this brief transition to remote learning. If circumstances change we will re-evaluate this decision and make adjustments as necessary.
\r\nTech Support
\r\nOnsite tech support will be available from 10 am - 12 pm at your child’s home building. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s school issued devices, please email ithelpdesk@alliancecityschools.org. Please include your child’s name, your name, the problem and a phone number.
\r\nThe health and safety of our staff and students continues to be our number one priority during this time. Our goal is for all students and staff to return safely to in-person learning following this temporary period of remote learning. We ask that all Aviators continue to be mindful during this difficult time and practice social distancing and proper mask wearing at all times.
\r\nThe ACS COVID-19 dashboard is updated daily at https://www.alliancecityschools.org/page/covid-19-case-reporting.

\r\nSincerely,
Rob Gress
