ALLIANCE, OHIO – (October 23, 2023) – Alliance City Schools is set to host the first ever Futures Fest on Thursday, Oct. 26 at Alliance High School.
For years, AHS held a college and career night geared towards upperclassmen. While the night was always well attended, it didn’t draw in the younger students and families who would also benefit from the experience.
“Our vision at ACS is to truly prepare all Aviators for Life, College and Careers,” said Allison Morrison, school counselor at AHS. “The 2023 Futures Fest is a major step in that direction. From working with our youngest Aviators in exposing them to various careers to assisting our seniors as they walk across the stage, our goal is to make sure students have the opportunity to plan out their futures. We want to be that bridge to help our students make their futures a reality.”
With the District’s renewed focus on career preparation, Futures Fest will offer students in kindergarten through high school and their families the opportunity to explore the careers available to them. The college and career fair will still take place featuring approximately 80 vendors, but there will also be fun career-related activities and games for our young Aviators to participate in.
Activities include a career fashion show, career face painting, guess the career games, early childhood career booths and more. There will even be a performance by the Jetsetters, food trucks, a bounce house, prizes and raffles and more.
“We hope all families will mark their calendars for our Futures Fest, which includes career-connected learning activities and prizes for students in kindergarten through 12th grade,” said Beth Hirschman, director of career programs. “In direct alignment with the State of Ohio’s Career Connections Framework and our District’s mission to prepare all Aviators for Life, College and Careers, this event will engage both students and their families in the career exploration planning process.”
Futures Fest will take place from 5:30-7:30 pm on Thursday.
Families are encouraged to stop by the Alliance Preschool Open House on Thursday from 4-6 pm before attending Futures Fest.
