Dear Families,
\r\nOn Monday, May 23, the Alliance Police Department alerted the district to allegations of misconduct made against a staff member at Alliance Middle School. The allegations included the sharing of inappropriate imagery and engaging in inappropriate communications with students. This staff member was immediately placed on administrative leave.
\r\nThe district is reaching out to share an update on the status of this investigation.
\r\nOn July 27, former employee Gelsaira Ortiz was arrested and formally charged with disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.
\r\nOn May 19, before the district was made aware of the allegations against Ortiz, she had submitted her formal resignation, effective June 7, citing an employment opportunity outside of the district. She is no longer an employee of Alliance City Schools.
\r\nAs educators, we hold ourselves to the highest standard of conduct. Any time these standards are not met, we are deeply disappointed. The district has been working closely with the families involved to provide support throughout this investigation and will continue to provide resources and support for all students and families.
\r\nWe thank our families for their understanding as our district navigates through this sensitive matter. As always, if you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
\r\nThank you,
\r\n\r\nSuperintendent of Schools
